David and Goliath- Before Reading

I have read almost all of Malcolm Gladwell's other books, and have enjoyed all of them. The way he writes and the ideas that he presents are great, which keeps the books interesting. The ideas that he presents are very fascinating, which  is why I think I like reading his books. I found out this book was being released over the summer, but never got around to reading it, now I am. Malcolm Gladwell's books normally take an idea that is well known and shows a new perspective on this well known idea.  In David and Goliath, he is looking into the idea of someone being called an underdog but when looking into it, they are actually at an advantage. I am really looking forward to starting this because there seems to be so much potential for a really "mind-blowing" theme for the book.

  1. David and Goliath sound like a very interesting book. I have only read one of Gladwell's books, but I absolutely loved. I love the way that he makes complex ideas simple, but it does not sound like he is writing to children. I think he creates the perfect balance, and you probably agree. I might read David and Goliath as one of my free choice books, but Outliers sounds really good too. Maybe when you finish you can suggest which one is better.

  2. Staying with an author that you like is a good way to guarantee that you are to like the book. This lessens the chance that you abandon it. I want to know more info about his books and why you find them so well written. The David and Goliath idea has been around for an extremely long time, so a truly well written and different version of it isn't always easy to come by. I will be following along as you read

  3. Jake, what is this book about? I like the fact that you are staying with a familiar author, but you have not provided much insight into what this book is about. I have not read a book by Gladwell, so I unfortunately do not know about his style, but it seems like you really enjoy it. Good luck reading.

  4. Jake, I like how you are staying loway to a specific author. I think it is important to discover a style of writing that you enjoy and Gladwell clearly provides that for you. I also like how Gladwell's style takes a new perspective of something. It is important to see the world through many points of view and it sounds like Gladwell consistently presents one. I can also relate to the "underdog" story and it is always a good one. Enjoy the book!
